Places to Meet Gay Men
There are many places to meet gay men. Meeting your gay life partner may sometimes seem trying to find a needle in a haystack. There are so many choices of places we have to choose from, it is not always easy to know where to begin.
Dating sites are springing up all over the place with the promise of finding your true love or your money back and other ‘fantastic’ promises. Many gay men spend time on online sites, looking for that Mr. Right so your choices are better than they ever have been before.
#1 – Online
Have an idea what you are looking for in a relationship and determine which type of dating sites you should visit. If you want to find a person you can have a serious long term relationship with there are sites such as Match Personals, offering gay and lesbian personals by genuine people looking for someone to spend their lives with. Gay men are flocking to online dating sites to add their personal profiles and pictures in the hope of finding a decent partner.
Placing a personal ad on a gay dating site is an excellent way to promote yourself as a prospective partner. Your advertisement must contain clear information that will give people a good sense of who you are. Setting up a personal ad will show people your skills or hobbies, exhibit the fun side of your nature and display photographs of you in social situations, to illustrate your adventurous side.
Just make your personal profile look interesting, use recent photos and share a glimpse into your life, and you’ll attract the right guys.
#2 – Bars and Clubs
Having a local bar to hang to out at is a great way of socializing with friends and meeting new people. A bar is a place where strangers can be friends for a short time and there is a sense of camaraderie.
Friends bring new people in to visit and these friends may be one of the people who catch your eye as you sit with your own friends and enjoy your evening. Gay bars and clubs are still the main social hub of the GLBT community and supplement the online experience as a means for meeting gay, bisexual and bi-curious men.
#3 – Social Groups
You can do a quick Google search or check local GLBT publications to locate local social groups for gay men. Most cities will have at least one gay social group for men. Your search on Google might be “gay group in {insert your city}.”
Our experience is that these social groups tend to be very welcoming and they can open a whole new world for you. They are a great way to enjoy your favorite pastimes while in the company of other gay men.
#4 – Local Newspaper Personals
They used to be the only way to reach outside your normal circle of friends — personal ads have been around a long time. Not wanting to travel far to meet someone is a reasonable request. This is where local newspaper advertisements are useful.
The personals column of your local newspaper will be full of people who WLTM (would like to meet) someone with a GSOH (good sense of humor) and other fancy little abbreviations that we have all become familiar with over the years.
#5 – The Workplace
Of course there is always the work arena. Many people see this as a dangerous place to meet their lover. Other people date colleagues all the time and there is the option of meeting a client who might end up becoming a good friend and then more. Everyday circumstances force us to meet new people and any one of those circumstances could lead to an impromptu encounter with someone we find attractive. Just be careful not to let a bad relationship jeopardize your job security.
Use these ideas and your own to develop your social circle of gay, bisexual and bi-curious friends. You never know where you’re going to meet Mr. Perfect!
